Description of the organization and its target audience
We are a non-profit organization serving students who are among the most diverse and economically challenged in a Seattle school district. We provide tutoring, community-building, and STEM programs. Our new name is Canopy. Just like in a forest where the canopy layer provides protection and enables growth, our organization gives students a place to grow. We help students become scholars, able to handle any challenge they face.
Our target audiences are elementary students, their parents, volunteer tutors, and donors.

The Qualifying Round has been extended. Please feel free to go your own direction. Keep in mind that Canopy is a network of volunteer tutors helping under served elementary and middle school students.

(I’m interested in combination logos.)
We would like to integrate an image of a tree or forest for the CANOPY logo. It does not need to be completely literal. Attached are some images, please make sure you see them before starting.
There are two ideas that we have but are open to other interpretations.
1. CANOPY (word) amongst tree trunks (image) of a forest. Maybe show the canopy (tops of the trees).
2. Image looking up the trunk of a tree to its canopy above (see attached photos for inspiration). CANOPY integrated or below/near the image
Colors:
No more than 2 colors
Primary Dark Green #527d24
Secondary Grey Blue #66839c
Font style:
Preferably sans serifs, but not totally opposed to serifs
Must have:
CANOPY - The name of the company
An image/icon
Would be nice:
Integrate an image/icon with the letters of the logo (like the logo attached *IvyMovement)
Might want to avoid:
Avoid being too playful. We might work with kids, but would much rather this logo be bespoke than comic sans.
Other considerations:
Please make sure it works in black and white before adding color
Our tagline is “A community of scholars” but we don’t want it to be required to be included in the logo. But, if you create a nice space for it to be added and removed, that would be a plus

If you use fonts that require a license, confirm with the client they're ok with it. For licensing reasons, it is better to provide your client with information on how to acquire the font rather than providing the actual files.
Text in logos should be converted to outlines.
