Steve Wiideman got their new web page design by running a design contest:

Cleaning & Maintenance
Our website offers swimming pool and spa owners around the Palm Beach (and eventually Orlando & Martin County, but mostly Palm Beach), Florida area information about our services, including weekly pool maintenance services (cleaning, power-washing, etc).
Palm Beach Florida is our main demographic, so you might include palm trees, luxury lifestyle images of pools, etc. We see a lot of competitors choosing images with families and kids swimming (representing make your pool safe I suppose). Color pallets might be similar to visitflorida.com, palmbeachfl.com, or palmbeachillustrated.com.
Both pages: Site will be cut to a responsive design WordPress theme, so please consider this in the layout. Okay to enhance current logo. Standard top navigation will include Home, About Us, Services, Pool Pro Difference, Meet Our Staff, Pay Your Invoice, Blog and Contact Us. We want a section for us to promote a current coupon or offer (currently a $85.00 monthly special) on every page. Phone number and contact box (name, phone & email) should be the first things to catch the user eye on every page. Web 2.0 fresh looking design with integrated social media elements (Facebook, Twitter, Google+ in-line widgets, NOT buttons that take the user off the website); perhaps above the top navigation. Footer should include address, phone, copyright, link to services area page and to the sitemap page. Homepage should make us look like the most professional pool maintenance service around, with hints of Palm Beach Florida imagery. Perhaps a large top banner with the call-to-action box (form & phone) layered on top. Perhaps 4 columns under the top banner for “Pool & Spa Services”, “Pool & Spa Repair”, “Pool Maintenance Tips” and “Testimonials & Photos”. Trust signals such as the NSPF.org logo and BBB should be included. Another row under the 4 columns might be a good place for “Latest from Our Blog” featuring titles and snippets from 3 posts (full width perhaps 300px in height). Another idea we like with regards to the homepage is to add a prequalification module similar to www.titleloansorangecounty.com. Labeled "Request Service" that starts with Select Your Location and then (not shown to user until clicked) will have y/n questions such as "Size of Your Pool" etc. Subpage should not include the top banner, but have at least 640 px width in the body section and a right sidebar with the phone number, coupon, Feedburner form to subscribe to get pool maintenance & water safety tips, rotating testimonial module and recent blog posts.
What to avoid
Clutter. We want simple, clean and easy-to-use for users. If users have to go to the navigation to find what they are looking for, we failed.
