phils 9 got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Modern Minimalist design for the BEST Solar Company!
Check out phils 9's Web page design contest…
We are a residential solar panel installation company. We handle all aspects of the process in house including the initial consultation, financing, design, permitting, installation, monitoring, warranty, and customer service. We are currently the only solar installer that manufactures our own panels, and we are releasing an american made panel in the next week or 2. We also have our own bank and loan our own money so customers can own their system in addition to offering leasing options. Our target audience is Men and Women between the age of 28-64, that own their home, most likely with college degrees, and household income over $75k.
We are a tech company and an environmental company. We need to portray a modern, technical, feel with natural simplistic flow. Minimal design, with emphasis on call-to-action, simplicity and overall usability. We don't need heavy functionality, sliders, or anything that might impact load times. I set the expectation that "the finalists will be asked to provide responsive layouts for iPad, iPad Mini, and iPhone" (similar to the samples displayed on www.mediaqueri.es ). For colors, you can use similar color combinations from our current website (thunder black, lightning yellow, and a medium gray. Id like a full width photo at the top of the page with compelling imagery and the CTA. I feel like the background can have texture. Trust indicators such as BBB logo's solarreviews.com badge, nabcep certified installer logo and other similar trust indicators need to be prominent as well as a review or 2 on the homepage.
Homepage: Full width image with CTA above the fold. Able to scroll down to find the answers to the most common questions and make it easy to find what site visitors want. Trust indicators in a prominent location, a couple reviews and maybe even a video testimonial somewhere.
We just wrapped filming our first TV Commercial. It has a similar feel to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUG9qYTJMsI the dollar shave club ads but a little less snarky/cocky. I will have the commercials final edit in about a week. We will need to steal some of the imagery/messaging from the commercial and apply it to the website.
