To get a good idea of what we're making, you can reference the "These come from trees" stickers -
Their website is quite out of date- but their mission has been strong for the last ten years. The stickers are purchased by inspired individuals, who go and put them on primarily paper towel dispensers.
"These Come From Trees Blog
Welcome to the world's first guerrilla public service announcement!
An experiment in environmentalism, viral marketing, and user interface design
with the goal of reducing consumer waste paper!"
Another strong reference that we have been pulling from is "Fuck Cancer" https://www.letsfcancer.com/
They're taking a bold "in your face" approach with their design and copy.
The final sticker dimensions have not been finalized. We are thinking going with a square or rectangular sticker- but we would be happy to consider custom shapes or circles.
The overall objective of this is to make a sticker that will be placed in high impact areas where lots of single-use plastic is used. Examples include: plastic straw dispensers, water fill up stations at restaurants with stacks of plastic cups, plastic cutlery dispensers, foreheads of ignorant baristas who put your drink in a plastic cup even though you ask for it in a "for here" mug- etc.
Anywhere that supplies customers with non-essential single-use plastic is where we want to be putting these stickers.
Qualities that we want:
BOLD - THESE PUPPIES NEED TO STAND OUT
EASY TO READ
Not childish. These stickers need to be bold. No overly childish fonts or pictures of sea creatures please.
Simple. We don't want overly complex designs that detract from the message. That being said- we're not against adding a little bit of creative flair!
Potentially colors that help make it pop!
Sharable! We want people to take photos of these and easily be able to share and tag us where they find them in public. So making the instagram handle and hashtag easily readable is of high priority.
Please see below for the copy that we want on the stickers. Our team has made a rough mockup of the design. If you think tweaking the copy slightly would work better for your design- go for it. Get creative! However, we'd like to stick pretty close to the provided copy.
This sticker can stop the use of up to 100lbs of plastic waste. Every sticker funds the removal of 1lb of ocean bound plastic.
