Louisville Vegan Jerky Co
We sell soy jerky to grocery stores across the country
Our jerky is an all vegan healthy high protein snack. We truly believe our jerky is unique in flavor and texture as we put a lot of time and attention into ingredients and cooking. We handbag every bag and work out of a kitchen in a beautiful victorian neighborhood. We offer a real product that isn't highly processed or loaded with ingredients for customers ranging from hard core meat eaters to hard core vegans. Our jerky's flavor comes from high quality spices and we don't use cheap soy sauce filled with wheat. We're currently moving up our production and want to have a better shelf presence in competitive marketplaces. We look forward to working with you guys!
Package Dimensions :
Size (in): 5.125" W x 3.125" G x 7.525" H
(we are moving away from the labels on front of the bags. The new bags will be printed fully so please feel free to stretch the artwork to the edges)
I would like a refreshing of our current package design. Please use the old design as a template, but we really want to see the bag re-imagined.
I would like the new design to say jerky and vegan much larger. Right now our current package is difficult to know what you're looking at until you pick it up and read it. The idea of the jerky is first and foremost that it's vegan and we don't use gluten ingredients (cannot say gluten free as we cook in a kitchen where there are gluten products present). Second a lot of our ingredients are Kentucky centric. We have 2 flavors that are sweetened with Kentucky Sorghum (instead of cane sugar) and some of our ingredients are bourbon smoked in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Also I would like to implement all of the same characters from the old design into the new package. They are all Louisville legends that differentiate between flavors. The three flavors will be "Pete's Bourbon Smoked Black Pepper", "Todd's Bourbon Smoked Chipotle" & "Enid's Srircha Maple".
We need 2 sides. The back will be brand story and ingredients/nutritional info (see below). Also if it would make for more room I'm okay with moving the description on the front of each package to the back as well. I would like to have a window on the bottom of the front of the bag (big enough to see the jerky inside) that is in the shape of Kentucky. Inside the window I would like a simple dot signifying where louisville sits in the state (example below).
I would like the design to have elements of apothecary but with a modern urban feel. Our target audience is 18-35 young vegetarian/vegans but we don't want to alienate the audience as we have a lot of health food savvy meat eaters that enjoy our jerky as well. Our jerky uses high end ingredients and would like the packaging to reflect the artisan characteristics of the product without actually saying artisan on the package.
Our logo can stay the same or I wouldn't mind it being altered or updated to match the rest of the feel of the package.
The colors should stray away from cliche green or natural packaging. I would like the colors to be unique for each flavor but of course sit well next to each other on the shelf.
Another thing we want on the package are temperature gauges for heat/spiciness of the jerky. The order is :
Pete's Bourbon Smoked Black Pepper - Not Hot
Todd's Bourbon Smoked Chipotle - Mild
Enid's Sriracha Maple - Hot
The product should have facebook and twitter logo's on the back as well as a made in the USA as a lot of vegetarian jerkys come from overseas.
EDIT 01 : Please include the weight at the bottom of the package. (3 oz/85.05 grams)
EDIT 02 : Here is the brand story to be featured on the back of the bag :
"On a warm summer night in Louisville Kentucky, I accidentally made the best jerky I’ve ever tried. It was salty and chewy just like I remembered jerky being. Of course it had been years since I had eaten beef jerky, so I took my jerky up to a local bar to pass around and let people sample. Within thirty minutes I had carnivores and vegetarians coming up to me asking where they could buy some. After months of tinkering with ingredients and textures, Louisville Vegan Jerky Co. was started. Besides smoking some of our spices with real Kentucky bourbon barrels, we also sweeten our jerky with Kentucky sorghum to bring together the complex flavors Kentucky and Louisville have to offer. Please help spread the word that all vegan jerky is not created equal.

EDIT 03 : Also I've added the ingredients/nutrition facts below.
EDIT 04 : Please leave room for barcode and expiration date on the bottom of the back.
Here are some package designs we like (we don't want to copy these brands in any way, but just note the direction of their product) :
