We sell life insurance to parents and small business owners all across the state of Minnesota.

I need a cover designed for our upcoming book "How to Protect What Matters Most." I want the cover of the book to brand the author (Par Yang) similar to how other women experts like Suze Orman, Kim Kiyosaki, and Dani Johnson brand themselves on the covers of their books. (see attached.) I've included several different portraits of Par that can be used on the front and/or back covers. (see attached.) Needless to say, I want the title of the book, Par's name, and her portrait prominently displayed on the cover. If there is enough room, you can also include the sub-title of the book: Can't Miss Advice from a Heroic Young Woman Who Overcame the Loss of Her Husband, Home, and Million-Dollar Business. I would like to see variations with and without the sub-title. I don't want the book cover to look crowded! This is the best way I can describe it to you. So far I have received a number of submissions where the name of the author, title, and sub-title were literally right on top of each other either in the top half or bottom half of the cover. This doesn't look good in my opinion. Please utilize all the space you have to work with. (header, footer, and everything in between.) Please refer to the Dani Johnson examples I attached, and simply model the layout of her book covers if you want. I like just about everything about Spirit Driven Success and First Steps to Wealth. Particularly the fonts and spacing of her image, title, sub-title etc. If you're going to use the picture of Par's face on the front cover, you don't have to include the entire picture of her. Here's what I mean by that. If you look at Dani Johnson's book cover, Spirit Driven Success, you'll notice the header covers up the top of her head. You'll also notice the right side of the book covers up the left side of her body (for lack of a better way to put it.) This looks fine in my opinion. Don't feel obligated to use the entire picture of Par on the cover! :-) You can put text, whether it's the title or author, in front of or behind the picture of Par. Just make sure there's a sharp contrast between font color and color of image. Don't feel like you have to put text above, beneath, or beside the picture of her. The image and text can overlap. That's ok. Just because Par is wearing a green outfit doesn't mean the entire color scheme of the book should be green too. In fact, let's stay away from this. So far a lot of designers have gone overboard with this concept. I think a lighter background looks better than a black background since Par is wearing a black suit. Remember, the goal is to create contrast. I want the image, fonts, and overall design to stand out as much as possible. I want the spine to include title and author's name. The copy for the back cover hasn't been written yet. You can use filler copy (lorem ipsum) for now. Then when the copy is ready, I'm assuming you could just replace it for me. The size of our book is going to be a 6x9 paperback. This is the first book I've ever published. I want a designer who is not only familiar with the overall process but is also willing to work with me (and my printer if necessary) until the project is completed and I am satisfied. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
