What's your vision?
I need a book cover design for an ebook that will be sold on Amazon.com (front cover only). The book is titled Paraglide. It is a young adult adventure novel. Paraglide is the story of fifteen-year-old Jim Winters and his nine-year-old sister Erica who set off in search of their long absent father after their mother is kidnapped. Beating a trail from the north of England to the hills of Tuscany and hidden passageways beneath the city of Venice, the two dodge skeptical adults, fend off shadowy assailants, and uncover friends in unexpected places. But, that's the easy part! When a final clue leads them high into the Swiss Alps, the two siblings realize their father is not who they thought he was and are forced to make a choice that will either save their family or tear it apart forever. The cover should contain the title: Paraglide, along with the author name: Peter Anthony Kelley Technical Requirements: - Image dimensions of at least 500 by 800 pixels. - A maximum of 2000 pixels on the longest side is preferred - Ideal height/width ratio of 1.6 - Save at 72 dots per inch (dpi) for optimal viewing on the web - RGB color
You may not be able to judge a book by it's cover, but a great cover certainly stirs up interest. Conversely, a dull and boring cover can quickly turn people off. The cover for paraglide needs to appeal to teen and young adult readers. Ideally the look should work for both male and female readers. It should convey the idea of the story--in this case a fun action adventure tale set in Europe. I'm not looking for anything too literal here, in other words, steer away from pictures of parasails unless you can convince me otherwise. The design should be colorful but still work in black and white as that is how it will be portrayed on many eReaders such as the Kindle. Take a look at book covers on Amazon.com for a sense of what's currently being done. I will quite willingly provide designers the actual text of the novel (in part or in whole) if they want a better sense of the book style and story.
