pringd got their new other web or app design by running a design contest:
Design a Clean, Modern UI for Accuvia Software's Point of Sale Application

Accuvia Software Group (www.accuva.com) provides retail technology solutions to Retailers located in North America. We offer Point of Sale (POS) software used by the retailer’s employees to process customer purchases that operates on Microsoft Windows and iOS.
What's your vision?
We want a new, fresh design for our Windows POS user interface. We are not changing functions or adding buttons. We would like a clean, easy to view, minimalist look and feel. Ideally, we are looking for design elements that we could use across multiple platforms including the Windows desktop and the iOS tablet. The UI consists of 3 screens that have been attached for reference. The Primary screen is where most of the operator interaction takes place. The secondary screen contains buttons that are not as frequently used and is laid out identically to the primary screen. The Edit Item screen lists all of the items in a transaction and allows the user to edit them using the buttons displayed. This screen also contains a reserved area for the retailer’s logo or an image chosen by the retailer. The UI consists of 3 main areas on the screen: • Item Entry – Shows details of the item entered and most commonly used buttons • Scrolling Receipt – Shows the items that have been sold as they will appear on the customer receipt • Function Keys – Keys or buttons that may be used at various stages in the transaction. Buttons that are unavailable are ‘grayed’ out. Colors were used to ‘group’ buttons together for easier navigation, we are open to other ways to accomplish this. Design Considerations The content of the screens and main areas must remain the same. You can move and organize the main areas around, change the size, shape, fonts, colors, etc. Ease of use and speed is important to retailers. Buttons should be easily readable with white space between them and sized for big fingers. User interaction for each area of the screen should be intuitive and inviting. The user should not be intimidated by the technology. We need to make it accessible. Graphics and icons should be used to help and guide the operator. Icons and graphics must be consistent and well integrated with the design. Depending upon the retailer, product images may be available for each item. It would be ideal if there was an area available to display the product image if it was available but not too noticeable if there was not an image available to display. The average screen size for a POS terminal is 15 inches, 1024 x 768 . Designs should be submitted for 1 or all 3 screens.
We have attached a file that contains the screens to be redesigned 'POS Application Sample Screens.PDF'.
