It is an mobile "pictionary" game, similar to the popular game "Draw Something". However, it replaces the social-matchup with a random roulette-queue, so you don't have to wait for another user to draw or guess. It also adds more drawing quality feedback and a proficiency progression, to create a greater "skill game" around drawing.
We like the visual design on "Draw Something" (you can google search for examples), which we view as a combination of minimalist and playful colors. We prefer "whole screen" vertical scrolling, rather than any type of compartmentalized sub-regions. We'd like to have a single fun but traditional "application title bar" at the top of the home-screen, and the rest of the information panel should vertically scroll as one large panel. We like apps which have some kind of custom background image, as we feel it creates "depth". Whether that image scrolls with the UI, or remains stationary is open to the design. One important element of our apps is that we show user-authored drawings on the home screen (wheras draw-something only shows profile images). Because drawings are multi-colored, they can really clash and compete with the UI colors, and the colors of other drawings. Therefore, we recommend exploring monochrome techniques, either for the UI, or mono-chroming of the drawings displayed on the home-screen. King of Draw
Right now we're looking for mockups for the main "home screen" only. In our uploaded document, you can see screenshots and explanation of our current working prototype.. these are FOR INFORMATION ONLY. We want designs to explore options, not match our engineer created UI. From the home screen, users can (a) play the game by choosing to 'guess' or 'draw'. (b) see their score/progression, (c) see the drawings they have recently drawn, and (d) see a feed of recent activity (the result of other users trying to guess their drawings).. They can also goto "settings". The "score/progression" is: (a) the immediate game of accumulating "coins" earned by guessing other drawings, and (b) the long-term progression through drawing mastery... When you draw a drawing, and someone guesses it correctly, you "master" that drawing, so the progression goal is to "master" all drawings by drawing them and having someone else guess them correctly. It will take a long time to master all drawings. (see attachment)
What to avoid
We want less-is-more designs. Let the content (Drawings and profiles) be the star, rather than over-filling the screen with design elements. Designs for either iPhone or iPad will be considered. The application is used on both screen sizes.
