Logo types to explore
********************************************** UPDATE TO THE UPDATE TO THE BRIEF: ********************************************** Hi everyone, update again here :) As we requested in the brief, we prefer other designs to boats (NO MORE BOATS) and we do not want monochromatic logos (MORE THAN ONE COLOR, PLEASE). I hope this is clear now. In closing, NO MORE BOATS. Please look at these two concepts for inspiration: Chad 2010: http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/themes/busybee/thumb.php?src=http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/uploads/email/2010/07/chad.png&h=210&w=250&zc=1&q=90 Spice Mountain: http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/themes/busybee/thumb.php?src=http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/uploads/email/2010/08/spice-mountain.png&h=210&w=250&zc=1&q=90 Thank you for your help and attention to this brief (NO BOATS)! *************************** UPDATE TO THE BRIEF: *************************** Hi All, These ship designs are getting very nice and that's definitely a direction we wanted to pursue, but as we pointed out, our favorite concepts to derive inspiration from were: The Chad 2010 logo: http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-cont…1&q=90 The Spice Mountain logo: http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-cont…1&q=90 Therefore, if anyone has any non-ship ideas that they can draw from these logos that would be great :) Thanks! ******************* ORIGINAL BRIEF: ******************* First, the name is "Working Overseas In" - and you can feel free to incorporate WOI as a stamp element or whatever you like, though the words "Working Overseas In" should appear in the logo. The logo itself will be co-branded with national symbols on guides, so that the end result of the visual integration will give the message "Working Overseas In Australia" or 'Working Overseas In Norway." In practice, that could mean that our logo is a stamp with a replaceable element in the middle that could be the shape of the country or a windmill or a tuk tuk or whatever. Or, if you like, the logo could be built so that the symbol appears below the logo. It's a bit complex, but if you think in terms of a logo that will need to be re-purposed for each country's market you'll be on the right track. We believe our market is largely young professionals or college graduates, but not entirely. As such, we're aiming for an adventurous and energetic theme, but not a silly one or a too-boring one. Something in between tophat-and-monocle on the conservative end and Indiana Jones on the wild side. To that end, we've looked around for some time and find the designs below to each have characteristics that evoke a sense of adventure - though a number of them are too dry for our purposes (we're not looking for monochromatic icons) (note, we are not suggesting you copy these logos - only offering them for inspiration): Chad 2010: http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/themes/busybee/thumb.php?src=http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/uploads/email/2010/07/chad.png&h=210&w=250&zc=1&q=90 Has a really nice energy that feels young without being silly. Arguably our favorite (and would fit well with an ongoing theme on the site). Brigantina: http://pixelcurse.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Brigantina_29.jpg The ship element speaks to travel and adventure without limiting itself to sea travel. The logo itself is too boring for our tastes, but we like the general feel. Spice Mountain: http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/themes/busybee/thumb.php?src=http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/uploads/email/2010/08/spice-mountain.png&h=210&w=250&zc=1&q=90 Like Chad 2010, the feel here is young and energetic without going bonkers. The typeface is too plain-jane handwriting for our purposes (we prefer the way the Chad typeface matches the scribbling style). McLean: http://ibrandstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/logo-design-87813.jpg We really like the old stamp/passport stamp feel here, and the steamer could be an example of a replaceable icon. Obviously for our purposes we need "Working Overseas In" to appear somewhere as well as a flexible spot for the icon and the country name, but the feeling here is nice. We'd have introduce at least one contrast colors instead of going with such a duochromatic feel, but we like the concept a lot for what it is. Kansas Offroad Rentals: http://pixelcurse.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Kansas_6.jpg Even though it's not the right typeface or market, there's something about this one that just nails the idea of adventure while remaining flexible. Our needs would demand more color and a little more complexity in terms of the co-branding, but it sure is nice. Covington: http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/themes/busybee/thumb.php?src=http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/uploads/email/2010/10/covington-outfitters.png&h=210&w=250&zc=1&q=90 This one's a bit of a departure, but we like that it manages to include a navigational icon that doesn't beat you over the head while maintaining space for iconography and for branding. Not exactly what we'd want, but it's in the ballpark in terms of evoking the right feeling. Campbell Health & Fitness: http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/themes/busybee/thumb.php?src=http://www.logotreasure.com/wp-content/uploads/email/2011/04/campbell.png&h=210&w=250&zc=1&q=90 We tossed this one in because it also has a retro feel to it that we really like. It's not adventurous enough, but that can be remedied with the right design. The hand-drawn typeface and icon fit together really well. All in all, the Chad 2010 logo has the closest feeling to the one we'd like to evoke. Still, each offering has its strengths and we'd like to see your thoughts. Don't let the localization worry you too much - just think about how you would make it so that we can have the logo fit into a country theme for different countries :)
