W.D. Colledge got their new logo design by running a design contest:
WDC Logo Refresh
Check out W.D. Colledge's Logo design contest…
WDC is a manufacturer's representative for roughly 40 US brands of foodservice equipment in the Canadian market. It has been in business for 67 years, with the same logo for the last 20+ years. Our target market is primarily foodservice operators of all types; Restaurants, Hotels, Hospitals, Universities, Prisons, Stadiums, Convention Centres, etc. We do not sell directly to these customers, but our manufacturers sell to a dealer network in Canada. Our function is to promote and educate on our represented brands over other brands in the marketplace. www.wdcolledge.com
The full name of our company can be confusing to new customers. It is the proper name of the founder of the company, Mr. W.D. Colledge. The word Colledge (with a 'd') is often confused with College (like the school). We regularly use a short-form in the initials WDC, but do not want to lose the full identity entirely. The logo should use WDC but also allow the full name to be used in conjunction at times. We have a current logo in two forms, (attached) and generally happy with it, but would like to look at a refresh, but also open to more radical changes as well.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at $299.

And then… they selected a winner!
Made endless numbers of edits even after being selected as the winner. Took our feedback and ran with it to create an interesting logo. We definitely didn't think about what he created before starting the contest, so I'd say we got something novel and attractive out of this. Quick response time as well!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
