Keith LaMothe got their new logo design by running a design contest:
***PRO INDIE GAME LOGO*** Exodus of the Machine

Games & Recreational
The game ("Exodus of the Machine" is the title) delivers a "strategic journey" experience to the player, who controls a small group of soldiers and scientists pursuing an experimental AI device that was first stolen by a hostile faction and then went rogue on its own. Knowing this device could potentially destroy the entire human race , the player's team crash-lands on a hostile planet and must journey thousands of miles in pursuit of the device. They face vicious animals, several factions of the native low-tech population, and critical shortages of food and supplies. As they progress, the mystery surrounding the device begins to unravel. Other themes in the story include: - "reconciliation between enemies" - "consequences of treachery" - "does the end really justify the means?" The target audience is primarily strategy gamers, as well as fans of anime art, military sci-fi, and/or our "AI War: Fleet Command" ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/40400 ), which is set after the events of "Exodus of the Machine".
Logo types to explore
1) An additional requirement: The logo needs to be clean enough to reduce well to fit in a 85x45 box and still be interesting and legible. We need to be able to use this in promotional materials where the maximum area available to us is 120x45 and we need some room for incorporating a character shot or something else. But at the same time, this will be used at much larger sizes and should look interesting there. Please see the Valley 2 logo as an example of something that looks great at both resolutions. 2) Explanation of the additional attached items: DesignContest_Asset_ControlCore.png - We want this to be incorporated into the logo. This is the device the player is chasing during the game. Rather than using the exact raster image, however, we'd rather have a vectorized interpretation of it that is more of a graphic design element rather than an artistic painting. DesignContest_Asset_GUISample.png - We DO NOT want this to be incorporated into the logo, but it is provided to give an idea of what kind of blues could work for the logo. This is the main GUI of the game, just scaled down as the details are not relevant here. DesignContest_Asset_Susan.png - We DO NOT want this to be incorporated into the logo, but it is provided to give an idea of the art style of the game and give an idea of the kind of additional image we'd like to be able to display alongside the logo in promotional materials where our maximum canvas size is 120x45. Just her head and shoulders would be shown in that sort of image. DesignContest_Asset_AIWarFont.ttf - This is the font used in the title in the logo for AI War (a game we released in 2009, and "Exodus of the Machine" is set in the same universe). The logo for this contest does not have to use this font, but we are providing it in case the artist would like to utilize it for this piece. The lettering may prove to be too thin to be scaled well in this logo. AIWarLogo_Large.png -- This is a raster version of the logo for AI War: Fleet Command, the game that Exodus is set in the universe of. This shows how the beveling and contours of that logo are. This doesn't necessarily have any bearing on what the Exodus logo will look like, but given the relationship between the games there _might_ be at least some mild cross-inspiration from them. But it's certainly not a requirement.
