DukeLeto got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Logo design for an established, $500 million revenue company going public end-2014
Check out DukeLeto's Logo design contest…
The logo will be used as the principal graphic image associated with Structures America. The company is the largest steel bridge manufacturer in the United States but also is a large builder of highways roads and concrete bridges. It is important to note that while the major product of the company are steel and concrete bridges and overpasses, the firm also constructs roads and does a lot of earth moving and miscellaneous construction work that involves the use of large, heavy trucks such as mining and land preparation. The color palette should, but doesn't have to use, dark blue, steel-grey and of course as needed, black and white. All logos should be shown on a white background. The steel-grey color is obviously meant to point to the firm's roots in steel construction, while dark blue is simply a preferred color of management. The logo does not have to make any particular reference to the "America" in its name. The management team prefers to have a logo that focuses more on the nature of the firms products and services (bridges and construction) that being American. American flag-type logos should be avoided since they are too common and will not project the more modern and sophisticated company the management is trying to project. A small dash of red somewhere in the logo might work, which will provide a subtle cue to the American national colors. But inclusion of any red is not required and may actually detract from the form and flow of certain logos. The logo should have one version with the name of the firm ("American Structures") and also one without.
Logo types to explore
Do not make it too flashy. This is a conservative industry and a conservative management team. Much more like bankers or lawyers than dot-com types.
