slmgee got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Kona coffee farm needs a logo with a little tropical buzz
Check out slmgee's Logo design contest…
We grow and sell Kona coffee beans (coffee cherry, green coffee, and roasted coffee). Later we may expand to growing and selling other farm products (macadamia nuts, fruit, honey, flowers). We sell to discerning coffee drinking individuals and to companies that need Kona coffee beans.
This is a third generation coffee farm in the Kona district of Hawaii. The business name is in honor of my mom, Bea, and is a play on the expression "the bee's knees." The meaning can be googled, but Webster's dictionary says, "a highly admired person or thing." Other definitions say "height of excellence." The logo will be used on the website and on labels which will go on the bags of roasted coffee. I would like the logo to somehow convey Hawaii and/or coffee since the name doesn't. This needn't be totally obvious; a hint is fine. For visual examples/ideas of coffee images, you can look at Google Images and search "coffee tree graphic". You may want to consider "buzz" -- bees buzz, you get a buzz from coffee, "buzz" creates excitement. Slang. a feeling of intense enthusiasm, excitement, or exhilaration. I've included an image/idea of my mom's for the logo. I like the direction it's going, but I'm interested in completely other ideas, as well.

And then… they selected a winner!
I loved that the design was simple, uncomplicated, and realized the brief well. Judy was very responsive and quick. The design works in both the board room and the play room.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
