wbhorner got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Design a warm, hipsterish logo for a California Zen meditation, creative arts, environmentalism center
Check out wbhorner's Logo design contest…
We are community based meditation centers in San Diego, Laguna Beach, and Los Angeles that offer weekly Zen meditation classes and related creative arts workshops (e.g., ceramics, free form painting) and natural immersion trips (think hiking and meditation trips in the Sierra Nevada Mountains) to a college age through about 35 year old age group.
The attached word doc gives the background on the Enso name and the zen buddhist philsophy and aesthetic that guides our center. The attached photo is of the founder -- a wise old man type who shares his many years of buddhist practice with the next generation. This picture captures the heart and soul and spirit of the organization. The last photo is of our first space -- a somewhat rustic zen "hut" in San Diego we use for meditation and Zen art classes. Zen has a simple, natural, rustic, somewhat spartan but at the same time warm aesthetic to it that is in balance and connection with the natural world. The moon, trees (perhaps even a non-kitschy palm tree given SoCal location), and the enso symbol (examples on page 3 of the word doc) are all important symbols in Zen that could (but don't have to be) incorporated. While Zen comes from Japan, and a subtle nod to that heritage is an option, we don't want it to be too over-the-top Japanese. Another thing to keep in mind is that the audience is younger adults in "hip" areas of California. Something warm, endearing, natural, hip/hipstery, but also with a timeless simplicity is what we're after. Thanks!
