Hi Everyone! I'm Leanne and I own a marketing agency representing this client. There will be FREQUENT communication to keep this contest moving forward. Most feedback will be posted around 11-11:30am EST after I've consulted my client. We have done MANY logos for clients in the past and we're well-versed in 99 designs. I will reply to designs on submission itself for all designers to see.
For this client, we want a hand-drawn or hand-lettering style for typography. Logo needs to be adaptable to vertical, horizontal and small-scale applications. Design should also be able to convert to initials only and still retain brand recognition. We'd like to see some of these incarnations emerge with our second round/final designers.
After this contest, we will use the logo on a wide variety of packaging including hang tags, rubber stamp, cardboard sccissors case, folded tag around an embroidery loop, 1/4 inch rim of a tin, stickers. We MAY opt to continue working with winning designer for that project directly. We would like native .ai files as well as PNG or JPG and PDF.
I'm uploading a lot of image examples for inspiration. Please refer to these notes for reference:
SEWING LABELS: good examples from the industry. (Not our favorite typography)
FAVORITE LOGO/TYPOGRAPHY: Jon Contino’s work for Barnaby Black
COLORS: Charcoal and Ivory. Will consider a pop of color
TAGLINE: Client has been using the tagline I entered in the brief. However, it is NOT required in all logos and we would like to see other incarnations that might include these:
Fine Goods for Needlecrafting
ALSO, I do not eliminate designs UNLESS you've misspelled words or you have submitted a design that is WAY outside the scope of this program. Please understand, this is not personal-- but rather I need keep a clean slate so my client does not become overwhelmed with choices that miss the mark.
Thank you all for participating and we are looking forward to some terrific submissions. Leanne
