Biography - Susan Renke
Susan Renke has focused her career in the food business, specializing in helping agriculture clients market their products to the foodservice industry. Her varied background across many facets of the food industry, on both the client and the agency side, has given Susan a unique perspective on the business of food marketing, advertising, promotions, public relations and culinary trends.
Susan opened Food Marketing Resources in 2001. As an independent marketing consultant, she has worked with organizations such as Driscoll Strawberry Associates, the Pear Bureau Northwest, Sunkist Growers, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, and Monterey Mushrooms.
She started her career working at advertising agencies specializing in the foodservice industry. After eight years with the California Strawberry Commission, in positions ranging from foodservice specialist to marketing director managing a five-person retail merchandising team, Susan spent two years with branded produce marketer Sun World International, handling foodservice marketing and consumer public relations programs.
After overseeing foodservice programs for the Produce Marketing Association, Susan directed trade advertising and public relations activities for clients such as the Beef Industry Council, the California Avocado Commission and the California Strawberry Commission while a Vice President with Ketchum Food Marketing.
Working on staff with Driscoll Strawberry Associates, Susan managed the company’s foodservice marketing and consumer public relations activities, and helped launch their consumer affairs program. She has been a consultant with Driscoll’s on foodservice business development since 2001.
Susan moved to the Napa Valley to work with the Culinary Institute of America Greystone as Director of Corporate Relations in 2013. In 2014 Susan re-launched Food Marketing Resources and a culinary tour business called Global Palate Adventures (a division of Loom Dancer Weaving Odysseys).
Susan is a member of a variety of professional organizations including the International Association of Culinary Professionals, International Foodservice Editorial Council, the Produce Marketing Association, and the World Food Travel Association.
A graduate of California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, Susan resides in Napa, California.
