The musky (muskellunge) is a rare large apex predator that inhabits freshwater lakes in North America. The musky is a prized trophy fish due to its size (36-60 inches; 14-65 lbs.) and ferocity when hooked. Anglers from all over North America try their hand at catching a trophy musky, with many going home with only fish tales. For this reason, the musky has been deemed the fish of 10,000 casts. Musky prey on fish, ducks, muskrats, and just about anything else they can fit in their elongated jaws with sharp teeth. They are both feared and prized in the angling community, but for those that do seek out a trophy musky it can be a very rewarding experience. Musky anglers try various approaches to catch the elusive fish. Once such approach is casting large lures in the shape of their prey and retrieving the lure back to the boat at a high rate of speed. Often, the musky will follow the lure back to the boat to investigate the lure, but not quite commit to eating it. Upon seeing a musky follow the lure back to the boat, an adept musky angler will attempt to entice the musky by moving their bait alongside the boat in a figure 8 pattern. The figure 8 is a notorious way to entice the musky and has a fairly high success rate in getting the musky to bite, however once the fish has struck the lure, the angler now has one of the strongest, most ferocious fish on the end of their line. Musky are not only a rare and intelligent fish, they are also a very hard fighting fish. Musky will jump right out of the water when hooked, even when their size would suggest they shouldn't be able to. Musky also dive hard underneath the boat when hooked and will put immense strain on even the best rods, reels and fishing line. If the angler is successful in catching these beautiful rare fish, it is encouraged to practice catch and release so that another angler may get the opportunity to catch the fish of 10,000 casts.
1. I would like the logo to incorporate a figure 8 as a drop shadow or into the logo somehow. A figure 8 is a technique that every serious musky angler uses at the tail end of their cast. 2. It would be great if you could incorporate a musky pattern into the design. Musky have a variety of patterns and styles. Please use the pattern attached for reference. It is a classic musky pattern and distinguishes them from other species. note... there are a bunch of videos about figuire 8's for musky on YouTube. I'll add an image as well. It is essentially an elongated 8 sitting horizontal.
