We are a community-based coffee shop that is bike-friendly. We sell coffee, tea and baked goods, such as croissants, scones, muffins and bagels. As a bike-friendly coffee shop, we will also sell some cycling-related items such as inner tubes, tires, cycling apparel and accessories (logo will be applied to some of these items as well). Our target market is both the local community, but also the local cycling community. The design of the shop will have a bicycle-themed decor, with pro jersey's, vintage bikes and new bikes hanging on the walls. The design features will resonate with cyclists, but the overall design will be comfortable and inviting to all customers.
Imagine a wine cellar in a monastery / dungeon or old cathedral in Europe, with brick, dark wood, iron pipes, industrial lighting / torches, etc. Think Game of Thrones. The countertop and service counter fascia will be made from reclaimed wood. Walls around the space will use red brick and the same reclaimed wood, along with some painted walls (likely white).
TV's will broadcast cycling events, live and recorded. There are long tables made of 100+ year old reclaimed wood to allow groups to sit together, but also invite conversation with strangers. Limited individual table seating with few plug-in outlets. These design features are to encourage conversation.
Of the colours I've chosen, I would prefer to stay on the darker end of the colour spectrum (i.e.: dark blue, copper, graphite).
