African Solar Energy Provider Requires Impactful Logo

Community & Non-Profit
In Kenya alone, 6 million mainly rural households (70% of the population) lack access to electricity because the grid does not extend to their homes. PoaPower is an African off-grid solar energy provider. We provide our customers with access to small solar home systems, regulated by meter, with payments for power enabled through mobile money platforms. Users purchase energy credits enabling access to electricity in their homes in amounts as little as $0.10. Our service overcomes the problem customers face of affordability and the need for flexibility of payment amount and timing of payment. Our customers often receive access to electricity for the very first time, from PoaPower, and typically live on around $2 a day (often referred to as Bottom of the Economic Pyramid (BOP)). Our aim is to switch our customers from kerosene lamps to clean, solar energy. Kerosene lamps give poor quality light; are expensive to use; produce noxious fumes (which cause lung infection and disease); and thousands of people (many of whom are children) suffer from burns after lamps catch fire and switch them to the clean, solar energy. Our vision: An Africa where every home is powered and lit by affordable clean energy, on demand Our mission: To create brighter, safer and healthier homes through the supply of flexible, solar energy.
Other color requirements
Avoid bright green, bright yellow, and bright blue
The logo is the first step in a rebranding process. Following logo development we will, overtime look to develop other materials too. Whilst the website we have live is fairly new, we are happy to rebrand and amend the core colour scheme whilst keeping the content the same. As such, we are looking for a new logo, but also colour swatch we can use across the business. We are a challenger brand, entering the market against same well established players - and as such the selection of colour is important to ensure we can stand-out. As such, we have chosen to avoid bright yellows (Mobisol) , bright greens (Mkopa), bright blues (Off-grid Electric) as these are taken by our competitors. Other than that, we are open to new colourway, but emphasis on standing out from a crowded marketplace is key. The logo must feel: - Ownable and distinct look, feel and brand colours - Easy visual short-cut to the solar energy or home energy - It may not need to link to both 'solar' and 'home' although our positioning will be based on the fact we are helping people light their homes. - Be modern and aspirational It must not: - Use a bolt of electric in anyway (our competitor Off-Grid Electric already does this - hence part of the need to change ours)
