The house of the future will be densely automated and smart. It will be a sort of computer-house. For the FRONT PAGE of our magazine (10.000+ readers) we need a classic aluminum Mac Pro cabinet containing a modern, stylish, digitally-equipped house. The illustration will have to contain the sign "Home Smart Home" (similar to "Home Sweet Home") designed to look like an old, granny-style knitted frame (see examples).
Overall style: the design must be isometric (30° or 45° of elevation) and in a quasi Pixel Art style (see examples of isometric illustrations we'll use inside the magazine). feel free to go FULL pixel art if you are inclined, but it's not mandatory.
The house: inside our opened Mac Pro you must design a house (living room, kitchen, bathroom(s), sleeping rooms... whatever). It should contain a large number of electronic devices (e.g: a big flat TV, some Mac computers, a smart thermostat, wifi... whatever conveys the concept of a cool, modern "smart" house). Please add some people inside it, but it should not appear crowded.
Outside the house: you can design a subtle exterior (e.g. a car, some trees, a garden...) to make it more lively, but it is not mandatory.
The sign: the "Home Smart Home" sign will act as the TITLE of the magazine issue, so it must be immediately readable, and BIG enough. Please, don't put it inside a tiny frame inside the house, as it will NOT appear as the title: readers must immediately read it (and understand the pun!).
The illustration MUST be in vectorial format (AI or EPS; better AI) and must fit inside the attached template. You should pay special attention to limits and borders, as there are some areas where there will be other elements on the page (titles, some texts, a summary). Attached, you can find some examples of past front pages, to see how we deal with spaces.
Feel free to SKETCH your ideas (also in separate parts) before actually start designing in vect format.
I'm available during european office hours (9 AM > 5 PM GMT+1), so please allow some hours for me to review your proposals. If necessary, I'll extend the contest.
Ask me whatever comes int your mind!, don't be shy: better to have a refused design than having a very good idea that never sees the light!!!
And please: if you have questions, suggestions about the briefing, need clarifications... START WRITING ME ASAP! Don't wait too long.
