We need a graphic that we can use in various mediums (Facebook, website, etc) to advertise our upcoming sermon series entitled "God is..." This series will explore different attributes of God (His holiness, grace, righteousness, undeserved kindness, etc.) and then help people answer the question, "So what?".
Typically, theology feels either academic or otherworldly. It shouldn’t. Instead, it should be intensely practical, making connections with life’s big moments and also life’s routines. The real takeaway from this series will be the demands placed on our creativity, commitment and courage to live in light of these truths.
We want this graphic to make people feel a certain newness – not necessarily newness in the way they view God (though that may happen), but newness in their take on life in light of these truths. We don’t want anything that feels otherworldly. We would like for people to feel curious about the way that this could impact their lives practically. We'd like for people to feel as if these beliefs about God could connect with and transform their 9 to 5, over-busy lives.
The series will focus on the statements below. I'm not saying that you should include these words in the graphic. This may just help understand what we are trying to convey.
God desires to be known, therefore we commit to faithfully study, teach, and obey The Bible, where He reveals Himself and His will directly.
God is Father, Son, and Spirit in One, therefore we embrace diversity, unity, and fellowship as essential components of our life together.
God is the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, therefore we gladly welcome His preeminence, providence, and provision in our lives.
God is the substitute Savior, therefore we celebrate the Good News of Jesus Christ as the source of our salvation, the center of our worship, and the heart of our discipleship.
God is the indwelling Spirit, therefore we depend on His active presence to empower, guide, and transform our lives into the image of Christ.
God is unconditionally loving and undeservedly kind, therefore we strive to be a culture of patience, forgiveness, generosity, compassion, and enthusiastic welcome.
God is righteous and holy, therefore we set ourselves apart to Him, pursuing lives of radical nonconformity to the world, the flesh, and false religion.
God has accepted us by free grace, therefore we reject legalistic performance and condemnation in favor of a culture of repentance, faith, and grateful submission.
God is our Champion, therefore we eagerly invite our neighbors to hear and experience the benefits of His victory with us.
