I create web sites and mobile apps on various topics
What's your vision?
I want an iPhone app icon that will be used for a jigsaw puzzle game with a Pokémon theme. Several artist have contributed with drawings of different Pokémon. Since I might make other jigsaw puzzle apps in the future, the design should be able to be used for other themes in the future as well. The target group is mostly kids, but it shouldn't be too childish
I would like to find a fresh design that stands out since there are many jigsaw puzzles in the App Store (just take a look). When it comes to the Pokémon theme, Nintendo own the rights of the characters, so we can't just display them in their original form on the icon. You don't need to make a character, you could use parts of a character or a more stylized design. Pikachu yellow/black/red colors is one option, but I am also open for other options. Besides Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Mew and MewTwo is probably the most iconic ones. Attached are some concepts that I have seen in other existing jigsaw puzzle apps, they could serve as inspiration but please be creative. 1. The theme in the puzzle pieces 2. A generic puzzle piece and a smaller symbol displaying the theme 3. The theme More in focus with a symbol indicating that it is a puzzle app I also have uploaded som examples of drawings that is available as puzzles in the app. I have also the need for another app icon and 2 splash screens that could be a 1-1 project after this if we find a good collaboration

And then… they selected a winner!
This designer was wonderful to work with. They took a vague idea and brought to life a very nice app icon which captures the look and feel of the existing app designs.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
