Nwehner got their new icon or button by running a design contest:
Accidental Octopus "page not found" icon for OpenChannels website
Check out Nwehner's Icon or button contest…
MARE through the OpenChannels website provides news, guidance, and community discussion on sustainable practices in ocean planning and management. Our audience is primarily scientists, policymakers, and environmental managers.
What's your vision?
We would like an icon for our website's 404 "page not found" error page. Drawing on the inspiration from Twitter's Fail Whale (http://www.whatisfailwhale.info/) we would like a similar icon. Since MARE's logo is an octopus, we have decided that an "accidental octopus" would make a funny animal icon to quell frustrating website errors.
The Accidental Octopus icon should draw from the MARE logo and the look and feel of the OpenChannels website. Please consult Homepage and Landing Page examples. The icon should follow the website's color scheme. The icon should be funny and cartoonish, and reflect that the Accidental Octopus is confused/cannot find the correct page. The icon does not necessarily need to include text.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Icon or button starts at $199.
