We need six icons in a set for our home page. The home page has six selling points that we want to touch on and we want six icons that follow a common stylistic theme to be visuals next to the titles for the selling points. The attached image is a screenshot of our home page, which is under development. This should help you understand the spacing you are working with and the colors involved. Currently, the dark gray rectangles represent where we want the icons to go but they are not exact in their size, meaning that they are close approximations only of the size and positioning of the icons.
In more detail, we would like the icons themselves to visually convey the title they are associated with. The icons do not be "self contained" in the sense that they do not need to be contained in a box, like an iPhone app icon. Instead, they should be more "open" and standalone without a containing box.
We would like the icons too look subtly "sunken" into the page, as if they were engraved into the page almost, which is also why we would prefer them to not have a containing box.
Be mindful of the other elements on the page when making your designs. You can try a number of approaches. To name a few, you could use the yellow/orange/red of the logo icon, use a drag gray to match the title text, use blue/light blue, etc.
There is also an image of our logo icon in case that could help your design process.
Our target demographic is high school students who are high achievers.
