Description on front flap:
“No one has ever loved me like he would have.”
As Elyce Wakerman found in the scores of interviews she conducted for this updated book, father loss— through death, divorce, or abandonment—is the event that shapes a girl’s life and all her future relationships. “In my fantasy,” one woman commented, “he remains the perfect, all-giving man”—a difficult role for any other man to fill. Based partly on the author’s experience, partly on her in-depth interviews, and partly on a questionnaire she developed with psychologist Holly Barrett to which almost six hundred women responded, Father Loss provides the clearest portrait yet of a very special group of women.
As a group, they express their insecurities (“Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever be able to love a man totally . . . because that would mean I didn’t love my father anymore.”—Leslie). Yet individually, many have become outstanding achievers, including Eleanor Roosevelt (“He dominated my life as long as he lived and was the love of my life for years after he died.”), Helen Gurney Brown (“People in business, my bosses, I look to them all as fathers.”), Barbara Streisand, Gloria Steinem, Geraldine Ferraro and many others.
Compelling and poignant, this important study gives information and insight to fatherless daughters, to widows and divorcees with daughters, and to every father who needs to understand the vital role he plays in his daughter’s life—as the first man she ever loves.
On back cover:
"I found this book very meaningful. It moved me, and I recommend it to any woman who thinks of her father as the man that got away." Barbara Streisand
“This intensively researched and eloquent book is the first and sorely needed study of the powerful effects of father loss… There is no other extensive exposition on this subject and its impact, in this case on a daughter’s life from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Father Loss is an excellent guide for professionals in every field who need to understand the bereft child and adult—in particular the fatherless daughter. Miriam Williams, M.D., president and founder, Los Angeles Child Development Center
“The author has managed to combine fine clinical insight with a story-teller’s skills. The result is emotionally stirring, even for a veteran clinician. Both women and men who have suffered early losses of parents will find this an illuminating book. It may arouse old and long forgotten feelings.” Saul L. Brown, M.D., Director, Department of Psychiatry, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles
“This brilliant book is for everyone who has been a father or a daughter. And it is to be shared among fathers and daughters. Just reading it made me appreciate my father more than I ever had.” Gail Parent, author of A Little Bit Married

In the end, I will need a psd of the front cover with all fonts, a copy of the spine with all fonts, a copy of the flaps with all fonts and a copy of the back cover (no text except for back logline). All these separate elements are needed to complete the InDesign final files and allow for adjustments later please. However, if the front image wraps around to the back, that is fine, it can be one image (one psd) for the front, spine and back (not flaps).
