erikheen got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Design for a book of humorous stories. Cover should be straightforward and humorous yet not too simple and silly.

Yes, Camels Really Do Spit: Things I've Learned the Hard Way
Erik Heen started out as a Montana sheep rancher and somehow ended up in Houston, Texas employed as a federal investigator for the EEOC. After twenty years of snooping into other people’s business, he quit the rat race and began writing stories. Erik is a contributing writer for Mensa magazine and in 2011 he was named Fanstory.com’s “Short Works Writer of the Year.” He has won seven Moth Story Slams, including the Grand Slam Finals in 2018 and 2020. Erik hosts the radio talk show “So, What’s Your Story” on KPFT 90.1 FM in Houston.
Think about it. Have you learned more from books and classrooms or by making a complete fool of yourself? Former psychology scholar, Erik Heen, threw away his textbooks when something struck him: He'd gained more wisdom from a slap on the face during a blind date; by dropping a Baby Jesus doll down the steps of a Lutheran church, and from In "Yes, Camels Really Do Spit" Erik revisits some of his lifelong blunders.

Book cover type
I want the cover to depict a humor book, but not one that is too "silly." The book is of humor stories, but they are not just for entertainment. The stories also have some intellect and meaningful elements in them. So I want the potential readers to look at the cover and sense the book will be very amusing, but not just funny for funny sake. It will also make them think about life. Also, the title of the book is "Yes, Camels Really Do Spit" and the subtitle is "Things I've Learned the Hard Way." It's OK to have a Camel on the cover, but a camel actually spitting would, I think, probably be too much over the top. Overall, I am open to suggestions because you are the experts on this.
What to avoid
Please avoid like the plague any flowery and elaborate depictions used in romance novels and fantasy and mysteries and thrillers. Stick to clear and straightforward design, though not total minimalism.
