I want the cover art to reflect all three stories in a nice, cohesive image, with prominence given to the story of the son.
I'm including a concept-only image below to give you an idea of what I've thought about so far.
1) This enclosed image is merely a sample and is NOT intended to stifle your creativity in any way.
2) Think of the lost coin as being a bridal gift - somewhat comparable to today's engagement or wedding ring. Consider how upset a bride-to-be would feel if she had lost her engagement ring - until she found it again!
3) Recognize that sheep are very fragile and easily frightened animals. Once lost, they are totally helpless, subject to getting injured or attacked by wild animals ... Even when the shepherd comes to rescue them, they will just lay where they are and bleat until the shepherd can get to them. The sheep should be attractive and engaging, despite being vulnerable and helpless.
4) Think of the son as being a good, strong, powerful and honorable man on a secret and difficult "mission" rather than someone who is "lost" or "sinful". A man who is totally aware of his surroundings and fully in control of himself, his actions and his timetable.
Preference will be given to submissions that reflect an understanding of the three referenced Bible stories and demonstrate creativity as well as remaining true to the content of the Bible stories.
