What's your vision?
I want a book cover that conveys that robots will take a world that has been cobbled together over the centuries and remake it into one that is amazingly efficient. One day, robots will be producing the world's goods, just in time and close to where they are consumed. Robots will grow our food where there is space and sun. They will build everything and move everything. Our material world will be less costly and have far less impact on the natural environment. And that natural environment will actually be a greater part of our world, as it will be more successfully integrated. Our cities will be greener. Streets and parking lots will be replaced by quiet green space, even in populated urban centers. People will be much more in control of the means of production instead of working for it. Instead of army of street sweepers and painters, people will be directing machines that accomplish menial tasks. Being an entrepreneur will be much more common. The cover design should be simple without being cluttered. It should convey what is important without creating conflict. This book is non-fiction.
I should make clear that I don't believe most robots will look like humans at all. Some may be very small and most will be designed to handle very specific tasks. We won't have human-like robots walking around spraying chemicals to kill bugs; robots will be crawling around inside walls killing them mechanically with no chemicals at all. In this new world, robots are not mechanical people. They are drones that tend crops, fight fires and chase criminals. They build infrastructure more like spiders do, not by spinning a web but by carefully moving parts into their proper places. They are cars of all shapes and sizes that drive your kids to day care and move parts from one factory to the next. Although people tend to think of robots as mechanical people, that is not the image I want to convey. The title is Robot Reorg: Moving The World
