Angle Labs got their new banner ad by running a design contest:
Create a promo graphic for Alarm Clock Xtreme
Check out Angle Labs's Banner ad contest…
Angle Labs is a San Francisco based start-up focused on developing mobile applications.
What's your vision?
The banner ad is for our flagship product, Alarm Clock Xtreme. Alarm Clock Xtreme is an alarm clock application for Android that gives the user a multitude of options when creating alarm. Some of the popular options are a gradual volume rise, playing random songs for the sound, and shaking the phone or solving math problems to snooze or dismiss. We have included our app icon in case you wish to include it. Our main requirements are: 1.) It must look good in a variety of sizes. (It will be viewed on different types of devices so the graphic must scale well enough to look good on both a small phone and a tablet) 2.) Final image must be 1024 x 500 pixels 3.) We would like a png as well as a vector graphic file (adobe file types preferred) Things to keep in mind: We want a promo graphic that reflects the ideas and connotations of waking up refreshed. Some of the ideas we had were a sunrise, music notes, or birds singing, but we are open to other ideas as well. This link talks about what should be in an Android app promo graphic: http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2011/10/android-market-featured-image.html Important quotes from the link above: "Your graphic is not an ad, it’s a teaser. It’s a place for bold, creative promotional images." "Vivid background colors work best. Black and white are problems because those are the backgrounds used by the mobile-device and Web versions of Android Market." "Limit Text to your app name and maybe a few additional descriptive words. Anything else will be unreadable on phones, anyhow." " ...it will need to look good both in a full-size Web browser and on a little handset. You can rely on the aspect ratio being constant, but not the size."
