Hop&Grain is a nanobrewing operation providing a limited range of craft beer (plus an occasional limited run) for a small barbecue/smokehouse restaurant, which also serves fresh coffee and espresso drinks. The house beers are a set of four which highlight the restaurant’s food and style. The set is called The Alchemy Collection, and features Ritual, a coffee-infused brown ale, Elemental, a dark ale made with smoked grains, Dimensional, a complex and hoppy pale ale, and Eclipse, a Belgian-inspired wheat beer with citrus and spice notes.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
Draft beer! I want a set of four tap handles, one for each beer in the collection, that could be CNC-carved or 3D-printed. I’m looking for a minimalist design, slim handles that are not bulky, but that feature design and color in such a way as to make them easily distinguishable amongst each other, while still clearly belonging together as a set. Each of the four beers has a signature color: red, yellow, blue, and black, so including those colors is required.
This collection is inspired by ritual, tradition, and mysticism. Keep those things in mind! If the tap handle looks like it could double as a magic wand of some sort... awesome.
